Madi and Lorvena
In June, two interns, Madi and Lorvena, came to spend two months with us in Liberia.
Lorvena volunteered at the Healthy Women Healthy Liberia clinic and also at the Red Cross Clinic in Kakata city. She saw and treated patients, taught CPR at both clinics and went on the radio to teach about STDs. Madi, an English teacher, taught in two different schools (Armsay Elementary School and Victorious International Ministries Academy). She made learning fun for the students. No matter how bad the students were doing in school, she always motivated them with words to uplift them.
Lorvena, on the right of Monika, is a nurse. Madi, on the left, is a school teacher. Lorvena’s first burger joint, she seems to be enjoying it. Madi’s first french fries in Liberia. We had to travel to Monrovia, the capital city, for that to happen. Madi and her students The interns were required to take a day of respite from volunteering, so we brought them to Libassa resort. One of our neighborhood roads had a ditch running through it. Madi helped with sand bags for the ditch. We were at the airport to send Madi and Lorvena off Madi brought soccer balls for the community boys. They were thrilled to receive them.
